Adorable Hattie’s parents were my birth clients several years ago when their first daughter Coralie was born.  It was such a fantastic experience to be able to capture her birth day and newborn images, so when they contacted me letting me know that they were expecting their second I was elated!   I was blessed when they once again invited me into their lives to capture sweet Hattie’s entrance into this world.   My favorite part of the experience was seeing big sister Coralie meet her sister for the first time, so I knew that when the time came for the newborn session that we would have some fun.  Coralie and Hattie did not disappoint.  Big sister was such a sweetheart and cutie-pie Hattie slept like a dream.   In fact…when the time came for me to shoot a promotional video (a behind the scenes of Blue Daisy Art) I invited her and her mom back!

I hired the fabulous Lydia Steumke to capture a maternity and newborn session and capture the essence that is a Blue Daisy Art experience.  Lydia did an amazing job and sweet Hattie’s mom gave an incredible interview about her experience.  You can check out the video here!

Around  the time that I photographed cutie-pie Mason I was on a streak of photographing siblings of former newborn clients.  I love seeing families again when they have another child.   When I photographed Mason’s big sister I was in my old small studio in my old home.  This time when they returned to my brand new, expanded studio!   Mason was just a dream baby for his session sleeping away his session and waking up towards the end to give me some eye open shots.

I love my returning families.  It is such a pleasure and I feel so blessed when families trust me with not only capturing their first child’s newborn images but then they come back to me when their second (or sometimes third, or even their fourth) child is born.  But….I’ll be honest. When I was planning for sweet Laine’s session and specifically for the sibling images, let’s just say that well…I was a little anxious. I photographed her adorable big brother’s newborn images just 16 months prior to Laine being born. Just 16 months. He was a premie too at just 4.3 lbs. While I always have high hopes for sibling images, let’s just say that 14-18 month old kiddos are not know for their predictability or for their ability to follow directions. I had my “safety shots” planned (those tricks that many of my families have seen me use to get images where big siblings want nothing to do with their new sibling.) BUT….this little guy blew me away! Sweet big brother Lyle was a dream. Smiley, sweet and while his love “pats” may have been a little rougher than mine, he sure was sweet with his baby sister.   Not letting her sweet big brother with awesome behavior overshadow her, Laine too was such an angel as she allowed me to pose and wrap her.

Anyone who has ever had a newborn session with me knows that I have this crazy love of baby back rolls.   Whether a tiny little 5 pounder or a sweet plump 10 pound baby, when you pose a baby all squished up like they were in momma’s belly, you get to see those ADORABLE little back rolls.  When Nora came in for her newborn session, this sweet 8lb+ girl was such an angel and gave me ample opportunity to photograph her back rolls and all her other adorable details.  I absolutely love all all the details!

I know that after just having a baby, the last thing many new moms want are professional pictures taken of themselves.  Nine months of growing a precious life inside of you can certainly take its toll, they you had the challenge of bringing that baby into this world!  But moms out there, listen to me…get in the pictures.  No really.  I don’t care how bad you feel about yourself, there is nothing more you will cherish than images of you and your sweet newborn.  This is one of the reason I changed my newborn session packages to include parent images in ALL my sessions.

When it came time for the parent images in sweet Grace’s session, I just fell in love with the way that her mom and dad cuddled her.    Tack on some sweet individual images and seriously, her session was just so adorable.
